NOON GARDEN (CHARLES PREST, FLAMINGODS) RELEASES PSYCH-POP ODYSSEY, DESIREE
10 Novembre 2021
Noon Garden – aka Charles Prest (Flamingods) announces his debut album Beulah Spa, set to be released Feb 25th 2021 on The Liquid Label. Alongside the album news, Noon Garden also today shares beatific new song Desiree. After a string of singles, for which Noon Garden has received support from the likes of Clash and The Line Of Best Fit, Desiree is another slice of incisive yet transgressive songwriting – evoking the greats of the 1960s through a modern lens. Recent single Decca Divine was playlisted at Amazing Radio, and it picked up love at DSP playlists including Spotify’s ‘Fresh Finds: Indie’ and Apple’s ‘New in Alternative’.
“A lot of my ideas for songs come from long drives on tour, and Desiree was one of those songs that essentially wrote itself through a voice recording while waiting for the Eurotunnel back in 2019.
Around the same time I discovered the work of Lee Hazlewood. His cowboy psychedelia really helped conjure up an atmosphere sonically and lyrically for the song. Towards the end there’s a snippet of an interview with Hazlewood where he describes how he wrote ‘These Boots Are Made for Walkin” – I wanted to include so his spirit can live on through the track.”
